1.) Are there any age requirements for my children in order to join?
Mothers with children from birth and up are welcome to join.
2.) Do I have to be a stay-at-home mother in order to join?
No, we welcome moms. Most moms that join are stay-at-home moms or those with flexible schedules as most of our activities do take place during the day. We do have members that work full-time who like the support of the other moms.
3.) Is there a minimum number of activities that I must participate in or host to be a member?
No, members may be as active as they would like. We encourage members to participate in as many activities that they are comfortable with.
4.) Can I bring friends to events?
Yes, we love to meet new moms! Friends are welcome to attend events, but members are allowed to join a playgroup.
5.) What types of activities does the MOMS Club of Pickering Valley participate in?
We participate in a number of activities including music classes, art classes, potlucks, coffee breaks and mom's nights out. There are also seasonal activities, such as ice cream trips, splash days, fruit picking at orchards, hayrides, Halloween party, cookie exchange, as well as many other kid-friendly activities. We also participate in community service projects. We use Meetup.com to coordinate and publish our activities.
6.) Can new members host an activity?
Yes! Any member can host an activity by putting it on our calendar at Meetup.com.
7.) Are the activities geared towards specific age groups?
All children of members are welcome to attend activities. Some activities may be more suitable for certain ages, but hosts typically tailor the activities or find a way to include all children; especially since mothers of more than one child like to include all of their children. Our club also offers the option of joining a playgroup, which are age specific and give children an opportunity to socialize with children their same age and activity level. Playgroups typically meet weekly, depending on schedules.
8.) Do I need to reside in the Pickering Valley Elementary School boundaries to be a member?
